The animals nodded. “We’ll carry the statue there for you to show him.”

“Thanks,” said Artemis. Now that they weren’t under Medusa’s power, these animals were pretty awesome!

Some of them tried to pick up the statue. They grunted and groaned.

“It’s too heavy to carry to Sparkle City,” the bears decided.

“Too heavy to fly it there either,” said the winged monkeys.

Giving up, they set the statue back down. It fell over. Crack! One of her hair snakes broke off!

Athena picked up the broken snake. “Look, the tip of its tongue is shaped like an M, for Medusa.”

“Perfect!” said Artemis. “That shows that it’s no ordinary snake. It could only be Medusa’s. It’s proof we turned her to stone.”
